Program Assistant

Kathy Black joined Keep Pinellas Beautiful in April 2025 as an Education Ambassador and was hired as the Program Assistant in July 2025. In this role, she helps lead litter abatement and beautification projects, supports outreach events, manages program data, and oversees the Eco Hospitality Partnership Program—recruiting new members, hosting training events, and engaging with hospitality industry partners to promote sustainable practices.

With 25 years of experience as a biologist, researcher, consultant, educator, and environmental project manager, Kathy has dedicated her career to protecting natural resources, advancing sustainability, and fostering community engagement. Before moving back to Florida, she served as Pollution Prevention Program Administrator for the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, where she led source-reduction initiatives, managed the New Hampshire Green Hospitality and Sustainable Craft Beverage Programs, and supported a range of projects addressing hazardous waste, safe chemicals, and PFAS reduction.

Kathy holds a Master’s in Environmental Management from Duke University and a Bachelor’s in Marine Science from the University of Miami. When she’s not working to protect the environment, you can find her kayaking Florida’s waterways, photographing wildlife, or sharing her passion for the ocean with the next generation of environmental stewards.
