Plastics
The Plastics Program Intern will help run a unique and innovative recycling program focused on the collection of plastics that would otherwise be sent to the trash. This program involves breaking down and remaking these plastics into new materials using injection molding. They will also help to manage program volunteers and data, develop outreach programming, identify routes for program expansion and deeper community engagement, and develop and implement educational curriculum and presentations related to the topic of plastics. Additionally, Plastics interns will get training and insight into the Florida Microplastics Awareness Project, a citizen science program involving studying local water samples in a laboratory setting to gain insight on the dangers of single-use plastics.
Up to 2 interns are selected for this role per semester.
Applicants with lab experience preferred but not required.
